In the glass, the wine has a deep, lucent red-violet color, with flashes of purple-blue. Ripe red cherries, freshly-cut hay, and tiny wild blueberries alternate with red raspberries, fresh peonies, and white pepper, as the nose evolves in the glass.
On the palate, the wine is fresh and fragrant, as well as concentrated and harmonious, with deep red fruit flavors that darken to blackberries and spiced currants over time, adding citrus zest, black tea, and an insistent suggestion of just-rained-on wet limestone. There is weightless clarity and mineral richness in the long, satisfying finish, and only 12.5% alcohol (making this one an absolutely perfect red wine for the summer). Drink now – 2020.
