A (by no means complete) map of vineyard sites in the village of Pommard
Fine Pommard is richer, more dense wine than neighboring Volnay, more tannic (and perhaps) less charming when young, yet capable of long-term development in a cool dark cellar. There are a large number of
Premier Cru sites, and at least one,
Les Rugiens Bas that is often mentioned as a candidate for elevation to
Grand Cru.
